Caron Wenzel

Caron Wenzel is an environmental educator and consultant who is owner of Blazing Star Inc, a native seed and soil amendment company founded in 1990. She has also been an enthusiastic supporter of food co-ops since college (from a long time ago). She and her husband Steve have worked on conservation and green issues for over 25 years.

Caron is the owner of Blazing Star Inc., a native plant nursery and environmental restoration consulting company founded in 1990. She works on various educational consulting and restoration plans for many school districts, and other public and private clients. She has been writing curricula and doing teacher certification for clients since 2000. Caron serves as the Chair of Bioneers at McHenry County College (MCC) Conference as well as serving the Transportation Commission, City of Woodstock, Wild Ones National Education Committee and Bioneers at MCC Steering Committee and a McHenry County Defenders Board member for five years. Caron graduated from Illinois State University and Columbia College of Missouri where she studied Psychology. She received Endorsements in Earth Partnership for Schools University of Wisconsin Madison. Caron works with many organizations and businesses in education and training including McHenry County Schools Environmental Education Program, Teach K-12 Environmental Education classes and Teacher recertification classes in partnership with other public institutions. Environmental writer and speaker for various publications, feature writer Garden and Greenhouse and co-author of Eco-yards. Registered Environmental Educator Garden Clubs of Illinois.
