Food Wisdom: Medicine has its place, but maintaining your good health is best
By Don's Early Light, Donald J. Brix, Ph.D.
"When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need." -- Ancient Ayurvedic Proverb
Medical science has likely made an advance or two since this was written so I'll allow as how there are now some situations in which diet is "correct" and medicine might still make a helpful contribution. Nonetheless, there's an unmistakable validity expressed in this hoary piece of wisdom. I'm reminded of this quotation often when I have a Cornucopia of seven or eight colorful vegetables steaming in a Wok with a splash of water realizing that eating this way obviates the need for a multi and keeps my cholesterol numbers at an enviable level sans statins. This kind of food is fun and sooo good for us.
Stay tuned and good eatin', Don
