What’s a food co-op? Where will the store be located? When will the store open? How is this different than a regular grocery store? How is this co-op different than a buying club? What kinds of items will be sold here? Aren’t co-ops expensive? Can only Owners shop here? Why become a Founding Owner now, instead of waiting for the store to open? Who can be an Owner? How is this different than a regular grocery store?

Answer

Cooperatives are owned by members of the community they serve and governed democratically. They have a triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. The chart below illustrates how co-ops differ from conventional grocers.
